1968

The 1968 Isle of Wight Festival took place at Ford Farm, Godshill. It was organised by Ron, Ray and Bill Foulk  as a fund raiser to build a public swimming pool on the island.

Signing Jefferson Airplane as a headline act was the foundation on which the IOW festival built its reputation. An estimated 15,000 people attended.

The generosity of Grace Slick, Jack Cassady and Jorma Kaukonen donating hand prints dedicated to the project, was also a turning point in the creation of the sculpture.
